Kim La Franchi has been part of the SDS team since its inception in 2001. As Vice President, she works in partnership with various regional and national nonprofit organizations to secure and to plan and implement new funding initiatives.  She has secured more than $23 million in government and foundation grants, loans and contracts for SDS’ clients. She also undertakes NMTC application writing, which has secured over $237 million in Allocation internally and another $149 million in Allocation for SDS clients. Ms. LaFranchi participates in CIIS compliance activities related to NMTCs, as well as writes impact reports.

 

Ms. LaFranchi has extensive experience working with the Los Angeles region’s nonprofit sector as a service provider in an array of settings. Prior to 2005, she worked as a mental health therapist and case manager, assisting children and adults in public and private school systems, the criminal justice system, mental and medical hospitals, homeless shelters, substance abuse treatment programs and community clinics serving low-income communities. She also participated in research projects focused on at-risk populations. Ms. LaFranchi also previously worked as an independent consultant for a low-income housing developer.

Ms. La Franchi is an avid traveler who has spent extensive time visiting developing nations and diverse cultures in Southeast and Central Asia, India, the Caribbean, Africa, Mexico, Australia, Central and South America, and Europe. Her love of travel and exposure to the vast cultural diversity around the world has instilled a desire to help achieve social justice for disenfranchised communities.
