Kyle Walton, Vice President
Mr. Walton joined SDS in 2007 charged with overseeing and managing SDS’ New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) Fund—the National New Markets Fund. The National New Markets Fund has been awarded $75 million in NMTC allocations that SDS invests into a variety of real estate projects across the United States. Mr. Walton works closely with investors and developers, assisting them with raising capital and structuring transactions using New Markets Tax Credits and other subsidies. Mr. Walton targets projects which have a positive impact on low-income communities as well as the environment. Asset types include but are not limited to healthcare, theatre, hotel, residential, industrial, office and retail. Mr. Walton has over five years of experience in real estate development and project finance within low-income and blighted communities. Mr. Walton will continue to further establish and foster relationships between SDS and stakeholders, insuring he is involved in the rebuilding efforts of communities across the nation at the local and the community level.
Mr. Walton has a passion for community revitalization, and has committed his career to re-establishing strong urban communities. Prior to joining SDS, Mr. Walton spent time rehabilitating multifamily properties in Minneapolis, MN where he managed over $1 million in residential properties and redevelopment efforts. Mr. Walton has extensive experience in the financial structuring and management of complex construction budgets and has worked extensively with sustainably designed and LEED certified buildings. Previously, as an Analyst with HealthPartners, a non-profit HMO, Mr. Walton assisted the organization identify and address impediments preventing low-income residents and recent immigrants to the U.S access and utilize health care services.
Mr. Walton received his Masters in Business Administration from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis, with an emphasis in Finance. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Morehouse College.
In his spare time Mr. Walton volunteers with a variety of social organizations including the 100 Black Men, the United Negro College Fund, and Children in Change/Keep the Peace.
